Removing White Background in an Image

Have you ever thought of removing white background in your pictures and found out it is a hassle? There are many available programs, from paid to free ones, that you can use to remove white background in an image. This short youtube video right here (courtesy of MsGimpTutorial) shows you how to easily remove white background using GIMP.

 

Have you watched it? The video keeps it short and simple, right? You can not only use the method on white background, but also on any other solid-colored background. The cropping via this method is not very clean, but it works well with small images (thumb images). On the higher resolution images, you will be able to see the remains of the background on the edges/borders of the remaining picture. But hey, there is a trade off for everything, right? At least i think so. I can live with the slight inconvenience, can't you?
